Food on the Table

In a huge win for consumer internet in Austin, local startup Food on the Table (FOTT) has been acquired by The Food Network / Scripps Network. FOTT is an innovative mobile application that lets busy families eat better and save time and money. They combine your family’s food preferences with big data from local groceries store coupons to make a personalized meal plan including a shopping list of items that are on sale this week! FOTT was founded by Manuel Rosso and funded by Austin Ventures.

I’ve recently written about what we need to cultivate consumer Internet startups in Austin and this is a perfect example. Not only is this one more success story that will inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and Angel investors, but also it looks like Scripps will be investing in Austin and keeping the FOTT team here.

This is also a win for the burgeoning food tech scene in Austin, acting as a role model for startups like Burpy, Favor, Greenling and others. For more information about this world connect with Robyn Metcalfe.

Congratulations to Manuel and the rest of the Food on the Table team!
